Aurora report 20-21.11.03 Strathalbyn SA

          Location: Strathalbyn South Australia S35.25 E138.8833

          Date: 20.11.03 9.45pm to 21.11.03 4.45am local time.

          Aurora observed initially at 9.45pm 20/11 as two pink patches up 
to 20 degrees lasting 15 minutes.

          Further observation from dark site 5km further south, from 10pm 
until 11pm local. Silver shafts up to 20 degrees from south west to south 
east. No obvious colour.

           Further observations until 1am ...grey green glow to 30 degrees 
with spasmodic shafts to 60 degrees maximum.

          3.45am local 21.11.03... activity increased until 4.15am when 2 
shafts reached beyond zenith into Canis Major. Lower shafts very bright 
rising 70 degrees from yellow-green based, pink-topped dome extending to 
almost due west & south east.

         Light from aurora bright enough to cast shadows.

         Cloud & dawn twilight interference ended observation at 4.45am local.
